The Hague Hacks - technology, peace and justice

On the 8th of December, The Hague Peace Projects organizes the first edition of The Hague Hacks. A conference that will bring together the worlds of peace, justice and technology. This event takes place at The Grey Space Paviljoensgracht 20, The Hague from 10:00h-18:00h.

Over the last decade we have witnessed several quantum leaps in the development of communication technologies, an increasing access to big data and the emergence of new technologies like block chain and artificial intelligence. Many of those technologies have a disruptive effect on markets, people and society: creating both new challenges and new opportunities. These new technologies not only create new sources of profit in the business sector but also provide the non-profit sector with a lot of the potential that have yet to be explored. Using new technologies could dramatically alter and improve the reach, methods and effectiveness of the interventions by professional peace activists, human rights NGO’s, international courts and humanitarian aid and development organizations.

The Hague Hacks aims to create opportunities and build partnerships between all those different governmental, corporate, academic, NGO and legal actors that have in an interest in new technologies. By stimulating cooperation, The Hague Hacks promotes development and use of emerging technologies for peace and justice. The conference is composed of workshops, activities and games in artificial intelligence, fake news, digital surveillance, big data and block chain, etc.
